The Tomahawk Fall Ride is an annual rally that brings the rumble of goodwill to the Wisconsin Northwoods! Every year bikers from all over the state (and beyond!) converge in the tiny town of Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
But what is the Fall Ride and how did it start? Great question! Let's jump in!
In 1982, members of the North Country Riders Motorcycle Club got together to raise money for charity. The next year, Harley-Davidson Inc. joined in on the scenic ride of the back roads in Lincoln County, with the registration proceeds benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
From there, this amazing event has only grown. By 1995, the year of the second Harley-Davidson Plant opening in Tomahawk, attendance was estimated to be around 13,000 and over $80,000 was raised for the MDA.
The Fall Ride has long been associated with honoring and celebrating our Veterans, supporting causes like the Never Forgotten Honor Flight and Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation, and hosting VFW Blood Drives and Breakfast with a Vet.
So as the fall colors appear and cool sunny days become the norm in Wisconsin, it is time for the 42nd annual Tomahawk Fall Ride. Each year, the Fall Ride takes place around the third weekend in September. This year it's being held September 14th – 17th, 2023 with attendance expected in the tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts! That’s appropriate, since even though Tomahawk is a smaller town, it’s home to two Harley-Davidson manufacturing plants where they mold plastic parts, paint, and ship them.
The Tomahawk area also has plenty of great riding roads that wind around the many lakes and streams scattered through the area. Some of the surrounding areas include Rhinelander, Gleason, Deerbrook, Antigo, Sugar Camp, Eagle River and St. Germain. These areas provide a wonderful place to stop, take a break, and drink in the local scenery (and honestly, some local drinks)!
Whether you're going to Tomahawk for the Fall Ride or your family cabin is on the lake, give us a call with any of your automotive needs! Our helpful team of trained technicians at Schierl Tire and Service Center is eager to help you get back on the road!
