If you are planning on taking your furry baby with you on an adventure anytime soon, you’ll want to make sure you’re transporting them safely and that you are prepared for any mishaps that may occur on your journey. While every trip requires a different packing list, some items are must haves no matter where you’re headed!
Here are our top five items every dog owner should keep in their car for some pup-filled fun!
Whether your dog is mesmerized by mud puddles or loopy for lakes, these will always come in handy. Before getting back into the car, dry your dog off with a towel and if there’s any dirt or mud, use dog-friendly sanitizing wipes to clean muddy paws. Then lay a blanket down and have them hop on in. We recommend a polyester blanket for a little added mildew resistance. You can even find some camping blankets that have a vinyl backing to help protect your car’s upholstery.
Does your Fido like to chase after those pesky squirrels in the park? Well, if he lunges after them too hard, he might break his leash. Uh-oh... In this event you will need an extra leash, so good thing it’s already in your car!
It’s likely that your best bud can go quite a while without eating, especially when exploring a new place. However, it’s always a good idea to have back-up food and treats in case you’re both having so much fun you lose track of time. You will also want to make sure that your pup is staying well hydrated on all your adventures. Keeping a portable bowl on hand is always a good idea.
If you have a first aid kit for yourself and passengers, why not add a pet first aid kit for your furry passengers as well? We’re hoping you never need to use it, but it’s there to offer peace of mind and any possible lifesaving care if the worst were to happen to your - or even a stranger’s - best bud.
When ya gotta go, ya gotta go, and the same goes for Fido. The only thing worse than stepping in a fresh pile is being the source of the one someone else steps in! Be prepared by having bags in your car — and on your person — when out with your doggo. Just stash a few (carrying just one is not realistic) in your pocket or travel bag when you’re not in the car.
At Schierl Tire & Service, we want all passengers in your car to be safe and comfortable, and that includes the four-legged ones!
